Snowpine Lodge is a luxurious, convenient ski-in/ski-out base in Alta, Utah, praised for its stunning mountain views, exceptional spa, and upscale amenities like a pool and game rooms. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with staff attitude, specifically regarding customer service regarding valet cars, communication with management, and slow dining service.
I'll be echoing some previous reviews in saying the Spa is phenomenal, the hotel staff not so much. My wife came up for an all-day spa experience and was floored by the services she experienced. Very grateful to that team for providing a well-deserved, relaxing getaway. The issues occurred after she left the Spa and attempted to retrieve her car from Valet. There had been some weather that day, and the Valet refused to hand over her keys. She drives an all-wheel drive car, with plenty of winter driving experience, however, he refused to listen to her. It took a phone call from myself to convince them to allow her to leave, an extremely demeaning experience. This interaction made her very uncomfortable. I have sent multiple emails to the Front Desk staff to try make them aware of the situation, and received no response. I am now making it public that I do not consider this lodge a safe place for women, and would discourage family and friends from coming here, despite the excellent Spa.
Relaxing, breathtaking place with so much charm. It smells amazing in this hotel. I love the burger at the restaurant on the first floor. And the hot cocoa is wonderful. Such a special spot.
My wife and I chose this hotel on A quick weekend getaway. It was A great weekend. The amenities were clean and beautiful. It was restful and relaxing. And the staff was amazing. We definitely felt like we were VIPs. I would love to bring my whole family here for the next experience we have at this hotel.
The snowpine lodge is not only beautiful it is cozy and comfortable. It feels like you are swept away to another little snow town. The pool is amazing in the winter. The beds are very comfortable. The restaurant and spa are incredible. Everything down to the soaps in the room are top notch as they are l'occitane. Trust me you’re going to love your experience here!
We celebrated our wedding at the Snowpine over October 3-5th weekend surrounded by family and friends. We overall had such a fun time! We booked out the entire lodge so it was just family and friends Friday and Saturday night. We had an unexpected snowstorm roll in to dump 8+ inches, and the staff worked very hard to accomodate our change in plans since we had planned for the ceremony and cocktail hour to be outdoors. We had to rent a tent at the last minute and heaters, and the staff served us cocktails in the cold and snowy weather, moving everything when weather got too bad to stay outdoors. The owners even came down to say hi while I was getting ready, and we saw them helping shovel off the snow on our big tent, and when the tent company forgot to provide us with a door for the tent, the owner found something that worked for it instead. Truly above and beyond service! We worked closely with Joan planning our wedding the past year and she was great, super responsive to questions and emails, and a really nice, calm person! Joan is amazing. We also worked a lot with Michael K (I forget his last name but he was the new banquet manager I believe), he also went above and beyond to help us have the smoothest, least stressful, and fun wedding day! Also, HT was wonderful and helped us a lot during our rehearsal dinner at Swens when we needed anything. The staff absolutely crushed it! The game room was very fun, and the hot tub was really nice. My only complaint there was that they had two hot tubs, but only one was open, and they are small, so we filled up one quickly, and other family and friends couldn't fit, it was WAY too cold to use the pool. When we asked about opening the other hot tub, they refused. The food was delicious, especially the banquet dinner for our wedding reception. They did mess up one of the dishes and forgot the kids meals (luckily we chose the buffet with mac-n-cheese so everyone was happy still) and when I let them know they were apologetic and discounted the meals to compensate which was very nice. Mistakes happen, and we appreciated how they handled it afterwards! Our room was beautiful, we stayed in a King on the C floor with the big balcony and loved it! My parents booked the Suite on the C floor, and unfortunately there is a constant loud hum noise from the spa that is the floor below, and they had a really hard time sleeping with the noise. On their last night they were finally moved to a different room. The suite also has a kitchen without a sink to do any dishes! And when cleaning service came to clean rooms they wouldn't do any dishes either, so my parents ended up having to take the dishes into the bathroom sink to wash them. Very odd, that room could really use an update!!! Breakfast was delicious, the service was just very slow to be honest. Like 30 minutes to get a first cup of coffee, over an hour for food and that was with the restaurant not very full. My family has stayed in many hotels up the canyon and they all have a complimentary coffee/tea bar that is stocked in the mornings for quick coffee, but the Snowpine has nothing like this. My friends said they paid $10 for 2 cups of tea! For a hotel that is this expensive and nice, having complimentary drip coffee and tea seems like a no-brainer to help with customer service!! Just throwing that out there if you guys are looking for small ways to improve! Overall we had an amazing weekend at the Snowpine celebrating our wedding! 10/10 would do it again, rain or shine or lightening and hail and a foot of snow (we got it all!)
This lodge is absolutely fantastic! It is incredibly clean, and the staff and guests are all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The amenities are top-notch, featuring a game room, a movie theater, a pool table, and a ping pong table, ensuring there is always something fun to do. The lodge is situated on top of a beautiful mountain, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. However, it’s important to note that if there is an excessive amount of snow, access to the hotel might be restricted. Despite this potential inconvenience, the overall experience is truly amazing and unforgettable. Additionally, I highly recommend trying the hot chocolate at the restaurant Swens. It is absolutely delicious and a must-try for anyone visiting the area!
This place is fantastic!! Our King room was so spacious and the bathroom was fancy! We had a full cabinet/counter for food prep (we were on a hiking trip). It was so quiet and the bed was incredibly comfortable! So many great places for our group to meet - hot tub/pool, fire sitting areas, tables and chairs to have breakfast all while looking at the beautiful scenery! We will definitely stay here again!! Food was fantastic, too as was the service!
Our stay at the Snowpine Lodge was an absolute dream come true, and it surpassed every expectation I had since first seeing it on social media! We had the best time imaginable. We found that staying Tuesday-Thursday was perfect – the lodge felt wonderfully quiet and peaceful compared to what we hear about weekend weddings. The location is phenomenal, offering direct access to amazing hiking trails, and the culinary experience is truly unmatched. We were so impressed by the on-site restaurants that we ate nearly every meal here for our entire stay! Matty, the bartender, deserves a special mention for being incredibly friendly and sharing such fun stories with us. It was also a joy to meet some of the local patrons. The spa at Snowpine is a true oasis. We were so grateful for the discounted day pass as hotel guests, allowing us to indulge in the private hot tub room, various saunas, and steam rooms. The main pool area was also incredibly relaxing, and we loved soaking in the outdoor hot tubs, all while surrounded by truly insane, breathtaking mountain views. And of course, the complimentary s'mores by the fire were a delightful nightly ritual! We were absolutely thrilled to be upgraded to a top-floor room with what felt like the best views in the entire lodge. Our room was incredibly cozy and comfortable, enhanced by thoughtful amenities like a humidifier. The ample dresser space was a godsend, allowing us to neatly tuck away all our clothes and keep the room perfectly tidy. We especially loved our personal patio, where we could feel the refreshing mountain breezes and take in those gorgeous views. Another huge perk was the complimentary laundry room – it was so convenient to clean all our dirty hiking clothes! We also had a blast exploring all the unique floors and nooks of the hotel. A massive shout-out to John and Shannon at the front desk; they were so friendly, accommodating, and incredibly helpful, even granting us a late check-out which we deeply appreciated. The housekeepers were amazing and so on top of everything, making our stay feel truly seamless. We genuinely felt like we were in our home away from home. Learning about the world-class skiing available here has us absolutely counting down the days until we can return for ski season! We cannot WAIT to come back.
We purchased the summer special spa package. (Around $250 per person) The hot stone massage was very satisfying, I even fell asleep. It might have been the best massage I have ever received. Note that they strongly encourage a 20% tip in checkout. Since I was satisfied with my massage, I had no issues with it. Each person who purchases the package needs to stay in their own room separately. The package also came with one-hour exclusive access to a fancy hot tub and access to the relaxation room with coloring books, cookies, and some tea. My friend and I had a good time in general. But I am hesitating to go back because the price is just not within my usual budget.
Only rating this place for food and shops as I live near it and have no reason to stay there. It’s probably the most modern accommodation at Alta. It shares good views as other lodges, but maybe that of Alta Lodge and Peruvian overlooking Collins Lift is slightly better?! But Snowpine has a better view of Devils Castle and I really think the chances of seeing a moose out where Snowpine is is better! It is truly subjective. Some complained about the food but I think it has gradually gotten better. Two days ago, we had the burger and the fish taco and we were very very pleased with the dishes! Note also I often stop by for coffee only and the staff are always friendly regardless how much I order. Sometimes the band performs here. If you think music is too loud, there are plenty of spaces to hide. I also just love the decor and ambience.
