The Hyatt Place Salt Lake City/Cottonwood offers a convenient base for exploring the nearby ski resorts of Cottonwood and Snowbird, boasting a modern design, spacious rooms, and free parking. While generally well-received, some guests have raised concerns about room cleanliness and specific amenities, particularly regarding bathroom privacy and inconsistent breakfast service.
We stayed here for 5 nights with our two small dogs in one of the bigger rooms. Every aspect of our stay was excellent. The room was very good size and allowed us all a lot of space to move around. The gym is very clean and has a lot of great equipment. The free breakfast and parking is an added bonus. There are several great restaurants very close by. The hotel is also very close to the Big Cottonwood trail which is great for dog walking. My partner snowboards and was able to easily get to Snowbird from the hotel.
We stayed at the Hyatt Place Cottonwood Heights several times and it has always been a great experience. Most recently, we had an emergency that we couldn't rent a car last minute and had to rely on the hotel's shuttle and buses to get around town. The front desk is wonderful and Sylvia is absolutely the best! She treated us like family and with the most kindness and care. We will never forget her kindness. It is these kind people that gives us love for Utah and for this Hyatt. We would love to come back whenever we can to ski Utah!
This is a proper, modern hotel—large building, clean lines, and everything designed to function smoothly. The property is easy to navigate, with a good?sized parking lot, wide automatic sliding doors, and luggage carts that actually work. They sell snacks and drinks in the lobby, but we arrived a bit late and that service had already closed. Breakfast was also closed by the time we came down in the morning. Not a huge deal, but a little frustrating in both cases. Our room was very spacious, modern, and spotless. In addition to the two queen beds, we had a separate sitting area with a couch, which made the room feel more like a small suite. The bathroom had a sleek glass sliding door that added to the contemporary feel. The hotel doesn’t have a ton of personality, but everything is comfortable and well maintained. The location is excellent if you’re skiing at Snowbird or Alta—only about a 20?minute drive to the Snowbird Resort. There are a few restaurants and bars nearby, but the area is quite suburban, and walking to them feels a bit awkward even though they’re not far. Overall, a clean, modern, and very convenient base for a ski trip, especially if you’re heading to the Cottonwood resorts.
Very clean and well-kept, with great staff. Unfortunately the rooms are designed with a sliding barn door style for the bathroom- AND it’s frosted glass. So it offers very little privacy, and if someone gets up in the night to use the restroom, the whole room lights up. Very poor design. The water pressure in the shower is also ridiculously low - we turned it to the most narrow stream and still had a hard time washing off the soap. A shame, because the location and amenities were great.
We booked this trip using Hyatt points, and it turned out to be a very reasonable redemption. We chose this hotel for our ski trip in Salt Lake City, even though there wasn’t much snow. Despite that, we managed to ski every single day. The hotel was incredibly convenient for getting to the ski slopes in the Cottonwoods. The parking lot always had space, and since we had a ski bag, we decided to leave our skis in the car. Breakfast was available from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., which was perfect for us. We would wake up, have breakfast, go skiing all morning, and then return for lunch somewhere in the valley. Most days, we also ended up going into the hot tub. The rooms were clean, and the staff was very approachable if we needed any extra towels. The hotel was even able to give us a two day refund on our points since we had to leave early due to weather. Overall, the staff were incredibly friendly, and it was a great place to stay for a ski trip. We definitely plan to return.
Our second stay at this Hyatt Place, and we plan to become regulars. David at the front desk is going places, and needs to be promoted - he is professional, welcoming, helpful and diplomatic. I barely write reviews, but he blew us away with his customer service. The hotel is in great shape, the breakfast area is huge and service and food are great, and the location cannot be beat for access to the Cottonwood Canyons for skiing.
So far all my stays here have been amazing. If I had any issues the staff fixed it quickly. The location is beautiful and is very convenient if you are going to ski. Nice restaurants close by as well.
It's a nice clean modern looking hotel for the money. The staff are very friendly and the parking is good. Complimentary breakfast is better than average. Their powdered scrambled eggs leave a little to be desired. We've stayed here a couple times and liked it, my biggest complaint is that the three times we have stayed, our beds were little saggy or worn in.
My experience was mostly great. There was a slight hiccup checking in due to switching systems, but they were great about helping us and getting it figured out. My biggest issue was that the morning of check out housekeeping started knocking on our door every hour on the hour. We were not behind on our check out time, didn’t even ask for a late check out, but starting at about 9am started knocking. Check out is at 12pm. After the first time, we put the do not disturb sign on the door but that didn’t stop the hourly knocking. Eventually we went out and spoke with her, telling her we’ll be out at the designated time. Wasn’t super pleased on being woken by housekeeping trying to get into our room.
This is a fantastic hotel. The location seemed to be great for skiiers with a shuttle bus arranged by the hotel, we however weren't there for this. We visited to see as much as we could in Salt Lake. The staff checked us in and were super friendly and the room was brilliant! The best value on our trip and felt luxurious. I have stayed in worse but more expensive all inclusive resorts! Two beds, a fridge, a sofa, a big TV, a bath and a bougie sliding door make this hotel well worth the price and well worth the visit. There are a few great bars and restaurants nearby that you can easily walk to. The quick access to main roads in Salt Lake means you can very quickly reach some beautiful city parks or drive slightly further to antelope island or the Bonneville Salt Flats. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel, not over the top luxury, but simply great!
