Perfectly positioned for ski-out/in access to the incomparable Alta, and also with easy access to Snowbird, Alta Lodge is the real deal. I've never been anywhere else quite like it. Alta Lodge is, I suppose, traditional, but in the very best possible sense of the word. It's authentic, stylish, comfortable, peaceful, and simply elegant. Many places claim to treat their customers like guests, but Alta Lodge effortlessly delivers on that. They are kind, welcoming, warm, and utterly unpretentious--all while quietly and confidently offering the highest level of customer service. I've been four times now, and even after my first visit, I felt like part of the family. Now it feels like home. Great food and the coolest bar anywhere. They foster an amazing friendly atmosphere where you can unplug (e.g. no TVs in rooms), relax, and focus on both your skiing and enjoying the company of other skiers. It's a really happy place!

The staff truly sets it apart—especially Mike and Dan at the Sitzmark Club and Rosie, the innkeeper, who all make guests feel genuinely welcome. Great dining, cozy rooms, and excellent value make Alta Lodge easy to highly recommend for a wonderful ski trip.

My wife, Bridget, and I got married at Alta Lodge in Alta, Utah, and it was perfect. The first time we checked it out, we both felt it was where we wanted to get married. The place sits right in the mountains of Little Cottonwood Canyon, one of our favorite spots. The setting feels rustic, charming, and personal. Here is why we loved it. From the first meeting through the entire wedding weekend, every person on staff treated us like family. Misti, the wedding coordinator at Alta Lodge, deserves a big shout-out. She planned each step, answered questions fast, and made the process feel smooth and calm. You can tell she cares about every couple and guest she works with. She has a way of balancing warmth with precision, which makes the whole weekend flow. Let’s break it down. The food was incredible. Guests kept talking about the meals all weekend, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every plate came out fresh and hot. People kept stopping us to ask who made the food. Having that level of service at a Utah wedding venue made the day feel extra special. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and having everyone stay together at the Alta Lodge hotel turned the celebration into a full-weekend event. We woke up to mountain views, shared breakfast with friends and family, and felt like we were in our own little world. That part alone made it unforgettable. The Sitzmark Bar was another highlight. After the reception, we got to hang out there with our guests, laugh, and keep the party going late into the night. That casual setup made the night feel real and fun. A lot of venues make you clear out once the reception ends, but Alta Lodge let the evening carry on in the best way. Every detail worked. The ceremony spot looked out at the whole Collins side of Alta, the dinner service ran right on time, and the transition from ceremony to reception went smoothly. Misty and her team took care of setup, timing, and communication so that we could just enjoy it. Weddings can be stressful, but this one felt easy. If you are planning a wedding in Utah, especially a mountain wedding near Salt Lake City, you should check out Alta Lodge. It has the charm of a mountain retreat and the service of a top venue. The mix of views, food, and friendly staff makes it stand out. Whether you picture an outdoor mountain ceremony or a cozy winter gathering, this spot fits both. We are so thankful for the Alta Lodge team for giving us such a smooth and memorable weekend. Friends and family still talk about how fun it was, how good the food tasted, and how beautiful the setting looked. We had the most amazing wedding weekend at Alta Lodge. We really couldn’t have imagined a better day and weekend. Misti was there every step of the planning process and answering all of our questions. Having the lodge exclusively for our guests the entire weekend, we were able to include additional wedding events: welcome dinner Friday night and Sunday Brunch. The logistics couldn’t have been easier and every single staff member was phenomenal and went above and beyond to make sure that both of us and all of guests were well taken care of the whole weekend. If you are looking for an incredible, stress free destination wedding weekend, we’d recommend Alta Lodge to anyone. There is no doubt for us that this was the perfect place to get married and we are so happy that we did!

Alta Lodge is authentic, historic, elegant—and wholly unpretentious. The food and drink are great. The staff are all warmly welcoming, utterly professional, unfailingly helpful, and impeccably kind/courteous. After three visits, I feel like part of the family. The skiing is, of course, off-the-charts fabulous. But I also find that it is an uncommonly relaxing place to stay. Superb in every way.

This was our third ski trip and stay at Alta Lodge. What a treat! They do a great job accommodating groups (we were 9) and you can't beat the ski-in-ski-out. Great staff and food, we love Tea time at 4pm, and the locker room is spacious enough. The only negative we had was an uncomfortable "king" bed. Which isn't really a king, it's two smaller beds pushed together with a very obvious divide/uncomfortable middle. So not conducive to snuggling. Otherwise, a fantastic stay. We'll be back next year!
