Located right on the ski slopes, Alta’s Rustler Lodge is celebrated for its ideal ski-in ski-out access and top-tier service, particularly for weddings and special occasions. While guests consistently praise the diverse meal options and luxurious atmosphere, some have cited these perks as reasons for the high cost, leading to disappointment regarding portions and value.
The Rustler is an absolutely wonderful place to stay and go skiing in Alta. The service is the best ever and they will take pretty much any crazy or uncommon request you make! They have a such a great environment and people working there it is a delight to visit.
This past August my husband and I had the absolute pleasure of getting married at the Rustler Lodge. To say the weekend and wedding day were perfect would be an absolute understatement. We started our planning journey over a year prior to our wedding date and knew immediately it was a yes after meeting with Molly and Liza to do a tour. Our incredible (and I mean above and beyond incredible) wedding planner, Natalie Anderton (Life is a Party SLC), had previously done events at the Rustler and came with great rapport with the Rustler staff and Molly. Together we coordinated and collaborated to make our wedding weekend personalized, seamless, and the most positive experience for our guests. The Friday of our wedding weekend guest arrived so impressed by the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the help navigating the lodge for the first time. We opted for the Mexican buffet for our welcome dinner and WOW!!! It was so much more than a taco bar! Drinks were amazing and again, the staff were so kind all evening. Our wedding day went off without a hitch. As the bride, I was shocked by how relaxed I was while getting ready, partly because I knew we were in the best hands between Natalie and the Rustler staff. Molly made sure our room was cleaned during the ceremony which was such a thoughtful touch. We were so impressed by the food and drinks on wedding day and can’t stop thinking about the late night snacks of chicken tenders and fries. Special shoutout to Kate, Tom, Molly, and Liza for being so thorough and making our guests feel so special in addition to giving us the BEST wedding weekend. John and Greg were stars of the show and truly the best bartenders with the best attitudes in town. Thank you to all the Rustler staff who went above and beyond for us. We are forever grateful for you! If you are considering having your own wedding at the Rustler Lodge, do it! We simply cannot recommend it enough. It was worth every penny and I wish I could relive it every day! Photographed by the amazing Brynlee Paige Photography
If you want excellent ski, you can get it directly from hotel. Service will be excellent and dinner menu will Surprise you every night with all-around the word options
Misleading reviews- overly rated Hard to understand this restaurant earned #1 restaurant in Alta. If you’re a guest at the lodge where dinner is included, I think the higher rating might go to the hotel, but definitely not the restaurant. Their pricing is advertised $$-$$$ ($15-$70. ) There's no mention of it being a fixed price four course menu at $150.00 per person. You don't realize it's a fixed price menu until you're seated. And you don't know the pricing until you receive the tab. Dinner consists of a cup of soup, a salad, a main course and a dessert. Very average food, small portions. Drinks not included. We had one beer, martini, and one glass of wine. Our dinner for four people was $611 with tax and tip. We had four slices bread with butter delivered with a small prepackaged butter patty, oil and vinegar was on the table, small bowl of tomato soup, small basic salad, main course a chilean sea bass not as tender that falls apart with a side of overly fried mac n cheese - the others had beef stroganoff, and a small dessert. Quality was lacking in all 4 courses and the service was mediocre. $200 would have been fair. The reviews online rating this restaurant as #1 in Alta is highly misleading and the details are inaccurate. After further review, I found a family write up the same experience we had in 2023. I would recommend other restaurants in the area.
This is a wonderful hotel in every way. Good rooms, wonderful service, ideal ski-in ski-out location. However, there are a number of annoying little things, especially unpleasant, because this hotel is very expensive. So: 1. There is a coffee machine in the rooms, but there are no wine glasses or normal plates. 2.Standardly, there is no mini refrigerator in the rooms. 3. The choice of dishes at breakfast corresponds to a 2* hotel, but not to a Rustler class hotel. There are no cheeses, sausages or hams, smoked fish, etc. 4. There may be an extra sofa bed in the room, but there is no desk. 5. Exceptionally poor, limited, and insufficient selection of light snacks for après ski 6. The hotel does not have a sign showing which lifts are open and which are closed.
The lodge is welcoming and relaxed yet also luxurious in all the amenities offered. The food is consistently delicious with a variety of ethnic options every day. Absolutely everything we ate was delectable! The staff were all attentive and friendly and our room was large and spotlessly clean. I loved the morning stretch/gentle yoga, followed by an amazing, leisurely breakfast, before a day of skiing—literally down the hill to the Alta lifts. In the afternoon we enjoyed stopping at the bar before heading to the hot tub, sauna, pool & steam room. Later another fabulous four-course dinner, and maybe a drink by the fire if we still had energy. Staying at the Rustler was described to me as a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am so happy I was able to stay! Traveling to Alta and the Rustler is easy - just a 45-min shuttle from SLC airport, unlike flying into DIA for similar quality skiing in Colorado.
This review is for the restaurant. We love the Collins Grill mid-mountain for lunch, but when it is closed mid-week, this is the place to go. Nice environment with high ceilings and fireplace, excellent service, and great food. The burger was outstanding. The sea bass and French onion soup were delicious. Highly recommended. Oh, and they have a mini chair lift to take you up from the long tow rope to the restaurant.
We went up to Alta's Rustler Lodge for Dinner and it was really nice. The food was so good, and they had a variety of entrees on their menu too. It was really cozy, you could sit near the fire, or look out over the resort. Our waiters showed all the respect one would expect from a fancy restaurant, and the portions were filling too. I would definitely recommend this for a nice dinner and stay up here at the lodge. The outdoor pool is heated making for a nice relaxing night after skiing all day.
